![]() We know that the Early Access saves won't carry over into the full version of Baldur's Gate 3, so there is no harm in experimenting with what's there right now. Gotta Give Kudos Thanks to figs999 and Norbyte for the Patch3ModFixer. It's a shame that the Origins cannot be accessed through conventional means in the Early Access build of Baldur's Gate 3, but fans can at least have a glimpse at what Larian has in store for the full version of the game with the help of the latest mod. Baldur's Gate 3 Module for Candor This module enables Baldur's Gate 3 support in Candor Mod Manager. It's unclear how many Origins and companions will be available in the full version of Baldur's Gate 3, but it's clear that Larian has some great ideas up its sleeve, such as the vampire Astarion. Once selected, the companion associated with the Origin won't appear in the game, so you'll have one less party member to select. It's possible to change the skills and starting stats of the character. The "Listen to Origin Story" button cannot be selected, you cannot change the appearance of the character, you cannot change the race of the character (though you can change some features, like selectable cantrips), and you cannot change their class (but you can change their subclass). Overall, the EA game-space is interestingly designed, and the story elements are a reasonably complex weave that looks like it will produce an interesting game, provided you can overlook the weakness of some of the 5e rules and combat ( personal opinion, I can't judge if you would share it ).There are some limitations to this mod. Each of the companions takes a position, from heroic through to brutally pragmatic, and they have their own relationships within the world, but their reactions to your choices are not quite the simplistic good/evil you might expect, and I have not found it particularly difficult to have whichever combination I want in the party. The evil companions are also not so obviously evil. If you like playing traditional paladins, you will probably find it easy to choose not so much if you are a more neutral sort of player. There are a number of "situations", both large and small, where you can choose to support one faction or another. You can certainly BE evil in the game by acting as a complete jerk, and randomly stealing/killing, as you can in many games, but in EA, the good/evil positioning is not always so obvious. There seem to be a lot of mods that make DOS2 easier or harder in some way or other you might find some combination of BG3 mods that allows you to enjoy the game mechanics.Īs for good/evil gaming and the existing companions in EA, this is not as clear-cut as in years past. Some of what you want may appear, some not. Additional classes and character capabilities Data manipulation mods ( that change stats and chances of things happening like HP, DCs, damage ) User Interface/Control mods ( including party size and maybe organization/movement ) Mods types I would expect, based on DOS2 examples are : Clearly, some games do attract modders capable and willing to sink extreme amounts of time into makeovers, but there isn't so much evidence of this with Larian. When asked about realtime for the campaign, the modder stated that it would require so much work that it was unlikely to happen. The closest I have found is realtime combat in DOS2 Arena Mode. Various claims have been made that DOS2 has a rtwp mod, but I have not found one on either the Steam workshop or Nexus. Looking at what has been possible for DOS2, I have to say that I'd guess no-one will do a rtwp makeover. That's why I am not a fan of the game right now, but have not walked away from the game either because I remain cautiously hopeful these things will materialize somehow. These would be somewhat the minimum I would need (either as changes made to the game or as mods) to be able to have an enjoyable experience playing the game. You're in luck sir, some of these are already available, so even if it's kinda hard to implement them now, you can bet your ass they'll be available in full release May be some others I can't think of right now. Paladin of Lathander is my all-time favorite character to play in D&D. Oh, and if what I hear is true that Lathander is not among the good gods available in the game for clerics and paladins, I would LOVE a mod adding in Lathander. Reduce DC of dialogue skill/ability checks Get rid of most environmental elemental effectsĪ true pause function during exploration (in single-player) Gathering and moving the party the way most other games do it Of course my #1 mod would be a RTwP mod, but that I don't hold out much hope for. Yes some of that, especially if the "good" side of things ends up weak/lame. I would need mods that change fundamental characteristics of the game. However, for me, mods adding in new clothing or even new classes or races and the like are just superficial fluff. I agree that it is too early to say where the modding scene will go for this game.

The actress changed her account name back to Valerie Bertinelli Sunday, tweeting, “key-dokey I’ve had my fun and I think I made my point.” Good luck out there!” She then answered a follower who asked how the checkmark no longer applies, writing, “ou can buy a blue check mark for $7.99 a month without verifying who you are.”Īfter changing her profile name to Musk, Bertinelli tweeted and retweeted support for several Democratic candidates and hashtags, including “VoteBlueForDemocracy” and “#VoteBlueIn2022.” Scammers would have a harder time impersonating you. ![]() Television actress Valerie Bertinelli similarly changed her account name to the Twitter CEO’s, tweeting Friday that “he blue checkmark simply meant your identity was verified. The comedian then changed her account back to its usual form, complete with her own name and image. Silverman’s account was labeled as “temporarily restricted” Sunday, with a warning that “there has been some unusual activity from this account” shown to visitors before clicking through to the profile. Her account also retweeted posts supporting Democratic candidates. “I am a freedom of speech absolutist and I eat doody for breakfast every day,” Silverman tweeted Saturday. The only thing distinguishing a tweet coming Silverman’s account was the handle. In a display of defiance, some celebrities on the platform posed as Musk over the weekend and revealed a potential flaw in the “Blue Check” system.Ĭomedian Sarah Silverman used her verified account to troll Musk, copying his profile picture, cover image and name. The decision to delay the rollout comes as the entire decision to charge users for verification has faced wide public backlash. Twitter also still appeared to be charging $4.99, an outdated price. A fresh Twitter account created by CNN that opted for the paid feature did not show the checkmark on its public profile. The app’s latest update was outlined on Apple’s App Store, stating that users will now have to pay $7.99 per month for the company’s Twitter Blue verification feature, “just like the celebrities, companies, and politicians you already follow.” The checkmark has long been used to confirm the authenticity of government officials, prominent figures and journalists.ĬNN’s testing of the service on Saturday afternoon suggested the rollout was not yet complete ahead of Sunday’s decision. ![]() The decision to push back the new feature comes one day after the platform launched an updated version of its iOS app that promises to allow users who pay a monthly subscription fee to get a blue checkmark on their profiles, a feature that CEO Elon Musk has proposed as a way to fight spam on the platform. Twitter is delaying the rollout of account verifications for its paid Twitter Blue subscription plan until after the midterm elections, a source with knowledge of the decision confirmed to CNN. ![]() ![]() With the more common POSIX semaphores, the semaphore has to be in memory that both processes can see otherwise it's two semaphores.Īnyway, assuming your get_semaphore() function does the right thing to share the semaphore, there is still a problem because there is no guarantee that, when one process signals the semaphore, the other one will start soon enough for it to grab it again before the first process loops round and grabs it itself. I am not sure why your semaphore thing isn't working - I'm not very knowledgeable about system V semaphores but it seems like a red flag to me that you are getting the semaphore after you have forked. Terminate the format strings of your printf statements with \n and you'll see behaviour in your first program more like you expect. In your program, each process will fill a buffer before sending its contents to stdout giving the appearance of one process running for a long time, then the other. That is because stream IO buffers the output on stdout until either It seems like control flow continues instantly for the forked process and only later resumes for the parent process What's the best way to prevent a process from using resources if it released them itself? However, because of the initial execution delay between the processes, the child process takes the available semaphore resource, uses it to print a number, then restores it and loops - at which point the resource is available again, so it continues without ever waiting for the other process. I'd like the code to alternate between the two processes, using sem_wait to block until the other process releases the resources with sem_signal. The sem_signal helper just adds 1 to the semaphore value (uses semop under the hood). The sem_wait helper just subtracts 1 from the semaphore value and blocks until the result is > 0 (uses semop under the hood). This is fundamentally breaking my existing code that uses a semaphore to control which process can act. I was expecting the above code to run in parallel, but it seems like control flow continues instantly for the forked process and only later resumes for the parent process. Here's a contrived example of the process handling code. I'm having a tricky time understanding how to alternate control between two processes using semaphores.
